GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Limited (GSKCH) today declared its financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2008. For the first quarter, sales at Rs. 4106 million were up by 25.7 %, with PBT growing by 34.1% to Rs. 864 million and PAT growing by 33.6% to Rs. 566 million.
The unprecedented launch of two products during the quarter this year shows GSKCH's commitment and focus on growth through customer-driven innovations in existing and new product categories while continuing investments behind our brands," said Zubair Ahmed , Managing Director, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Ltd.
The first quarter of 2008 started off with strong brand-led activities aimed at delivering the high growth plans for the business with the launch of products designed with specific consumer needs in mind. Starting the year was the launch of 'Women's Horlicks' - India's first health drink designed keeping women's nutritional needs in mind. Soon thereafter 'ActiBase' was launched under the Glaxo Nutrition umbrella to tap into the fast growing specialist nutrition segment.
Both Horlicks and Boost continued to power ahead with Horlicks achieving highest ever sales. Boost signed up two emerging cricket stars, M S Dhoni and Ishant Sharma as the new brand ambassadors.
