GlaxoSmithKline Consumer
Healthcare achieves 11.5% sales growth
2006 PAT up by 18.4%
Gurgaon, January 31, 2007:
GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Limited (GSKCH),
a global nutritional healthcare company present
in India since 1958, today declared its
financial results for the year ended December
31, 2006. Sales stood at Rs. 1,214.3 crore with
the company achieving a double digit sales
growth of 11.5% over 2005. PAT grew by 18.4%
over last year to Rs. 126.9 crore and PBT grew
by 17.3% over last year to Rs. 190.6 crore.
"2006 has been a year of strong
all-round performance for the business", said
Zubair Ahmed, Managing Director, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare
Ltd.
"I am pleased to state that
we've achieved a double digit sales growth
over 2005 with our key brands Horlicks and Boost
doing well in line with our expectations. This
has been as a result of a strong focus on
consumer-centric innovation and brand support. Unprecedented rises in input costs continue to
be an area of concern. Savings arising out of a
well executed in-house cost containment
programme have led to a healthy bottom-line
growth."
For the quarter ended December 31, sales
stood at Rs. 288.9 crore, representing growth of
7.6%. PAT rose 17.9% to Rs. 25.3 crore.
